Dear Sub families,
It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming all our amazing campers, and now we’re already hurtling towards the end of camp! Time truly flies when you’re having this much fun.
Sunday was a particularly special day here at camp. We were thrilled to host our campers’ grandparents for a wonderful visit. The highlight of the afternoon was definitely the Romaca Relay, always a huge favorite! Our subs were absolutely incredible, showing off their competitive spirit and teamwork in a variety of hilarious and challenging activities. From stacking five donuts on their heads to intense tennis games, they gave it their all. The excitement continued as we all gathered to watch Romrec’s triumphant rope burn, followed by a refreshing rec swim and a cozy campfire. The air was buzzing with anticipation, especially with all the playful fake-outs for Olympics – keeping everyone on their toes!
Monday brought even more laughter and joy with Deb’s Carnival! Our girls had an absolute blast getting their faces painted as adorable minions, unleashing their creativity decorating cookies, and making a splash on the slip and slide. The carnival games were a huge hit, with smiles all around. The evening capped off with a fantastic activity where the girls picked random words from a hat and then composed original songs about them – a true testament to their creativity and teamwork.
Tuesday - what a great day! We had a fun collective evening activity with the Senior A’s. We learnt songs and played some relay races. The big event was the OLYMPIC BREAKOUT! The girls were called to the basketball courts where we were met with staff lined up and we followed the Olympic torches to gymnastics where they had the Olympic colors visible. Torches were blown out and we had sirens and the Olympic drums playing, with the girls jumping up and down with excitement. Crownings were made and the opening ceremony took place. The next morning the girls all got dressed in their colored spirit wear ready for the day ahead.
Wednesday kicked off Day 1 of Olympics with a bang! Campers showed their athletic prowess in fitness challenges, scaled new heights on the climbing wall, and demonstrated teamwork in paws games and a thrilling track meet. Flag football brought out competitive spirits and strategic plays. Day 2 continued the excitement with intense tennis and pickleball matches, impressive gymnastics routines, energetic gaga, refreshing waterfront activities, and hilarious skits that showcased everyone’s creativity. The final day wrapped up the Olympics with engaging landsports, intricate small crafts, and heartfelt songs that celebrated the spirit of camaraderie.
What a week it’s been! We’re soaking up every last moment of this incredible summer in the true Romacan way!
xoxo
