Senior A's Week 6

Hello Senior A families!

Can you believe we are already at the end of week 6? Camp has absolutely flown by!

This week was SO much fun!! The Jinters put on an amazing performance of Peter Pan which the girls all loved, it was so nice to see them all cheering on their camp sisters!!

Grandparents Visiting Day on Sunday brought so much joy to camp, you can really see the special bonds that these girls have with their grandparents! We spent the day hanging out and visiting different activities. I loved getting to chat to everyone’s grandparents and listen to their stories!! After we said goodbye to the grandparents it was time for another VERY exciting event… Romaca Relay!! The girls were split into the green and white teams, and participated in a number of fun events to try to get their team in the lead. In the end it was the white team who took home the victory and burnt the rope first, however it was an incredibly tight race! It was such an emotional time for our Romrec girls, something that I know our gorgeous Senior A’s are looking forward to in the future!! Another highlight of the day were the Olympics fake outs! Everyone was on high alert just waiting for the break out to happen! The alumni got us good during dinner time, followed by Romrec at campfire, however even though the girls were very suspicious, nothing broke out on Sunday! Our second last campfire for the summer was great! We all dressed in our trip clothes and soaked in one of the last campfires together.

Monday started with lots of excitement as we were all woken up by the debs with pots and pans! We made our way to flagpole where they revealed their theme for Debs Carnival; ‘Deb’spicable Me! Debs Carnival was so much fun! There were so many fun activities; a slip n slide, dunk tank, face painting, carnival games and plenty of marriages! We enjoyed Cotton Candy, Popcorn, Snow Cones and a delicious lunch, before Romrec took part in their pie eating contest. It got very messy but everyone loved it!! We followed that up with a quick rec swim before dinner, and of course another Olympics fake out! Our evening activity on Monday was spent with the trainees in an epic lip sync battle. Funnily enough, they had both chosen the same song, and unfortunately the trainees took out the win. Our girls were such great sports cheering them on!

On Tuesday we enjoyed a normal day of scheduling however everyone was on high alert for when Olympics would break out! We made it all the way to freeplay before any Olympics movement happened. Then it was us group heads who got them all with a fake out! They were then convinced that it wasn’t going to happen, until during evening activity when the moment we had all been waiting for arrived… it finally broke out!! All of the girls were called to the basketball courts where the US staff were waiting for them, along with the Romrec staff who had the torches! We made our way up to gymnastics where all of the international staff stood waiting in their Olympic colours. The flags were revealed and finally we knew the 4 countries that would be competing this year; England, Portugal, Egypt and Argentina. Then it was time for the crownings. This was such an emotional and exciting event! Then it was time for the official opening ceremony, before heading to bed after all the excitement!

Wednesday was the official first day of Olympics!! It was so cool to see the girls decked out in all of their spirit wear for their country. The day held many fun and exciting events. We had Rock Climbing, Flag Football and Fitness in the morning, followed by the PAWS Olympics in the afternoon. Our evening activity was the Track Meet - the girls were superstars!!!

Day 2 of Olympics started with Tennis, Pickleball and Gymnastics in the morning. A little rain didn’t stop our girls from jumping head first into their events to win points for their teams! In the afternoon we enjoyed Ga-Ga and then swimming and waterfront events in the afternoon. For evening activity we enjoyed watching their hilarious skits. I’m so proud of how the girls have immersed themselves in this years Olympics. They have been such great role models to our younger campers too!

Finally Day 3 of Olympics brought Landsports and small crafts, followed by Sing in the evening. The songs that they all came up with were so creative and clever!! Overall Olympics was a HUGE success! I’ll let you girls fill you in on how the results played out!

I can’t believe this is my final blog post for the summer! I have absolutely loved spending time with your girls, it has been such an incredible experience, and one that I will hold close forever! Thank you all for your continued, unwavering support over the weeks, I am so grateful to have been blessed with such wonderful families! Your girls are so incredibly special to me, I don’t know how I’m going to be able to say goodbye to them!

That’s all from me! As always, love and hugs from your girls. And me!!!
