Romrec Week 5

Hi Romrec families!

We have completed week 5, WOW. This summer is going by way too quickly. But I am excited to see you about the things we did this week. On Sunday, we performed our play, Percy Jackson, at Greylock. After only 3 days of rehearsals, I was so impressed with the show and how hard the girls worked, alongside the boys. It was an emotional evening for everyone, with it being their last show, but I am so proud of each and every one of them and their contributions.

On Monday, the girls engaged in regular activities during the day. Monday night, however, was a special event, hosted by the Senior As. It was Birthday Night. This is an event where we celebrate everyone’s birthday at camp. We had dinner on Lagoon Field, sitting at tables with people who have similar birthdays to us and we were all dressed in our seasonal colors. We played some games in our seasonal groups also and then our girls led the teaching of songs to the younger campers. This is always a super fun event to get involved in. After Birthday Night concluded, we headed to the Lodge to watch the “Greatest Showman” and eat pizza to celebrate Tess’ birthday (a day late because we spent her birthday at Greylock).

Tuesday and Wednesday were quiet days, with the regular schedule resuming once again. We did have a campfire on Tuesday night, which Romrec led perfectly. Wednesday night for evening activity was another camp favorite, with the return of Cliff Brodeur. The girls dressed up in their flannels, and danced with the younger campers, encouraging them with great energy and enthusiasm.

Thursday was supposed to be Deb Carnival but as a result of the weather, this event was rescheduled until next Monday! As a result of the rainy day, we got to partake in a Romrec classic event, Miss Romrecer !! The whole camp took on this event with great enthusiasm and it was so fun to watch an all camp event, based around our girls. I was so proud of them all and I want to give a big shout out to our worthy winner, Alexa Paley!

The rest of the week was also quiet, but the girls got the opportunity to practice making a fire for Romaca Relay. The girls are super excited for this event where they get to lead teams and support each other. We also cannot wait to welcome some of the grandparents this weekend.

Until next week,

Caoimhe.
