Clubhouse 7 Week 6

Hi Clubhouse Families,

As we head into our final week of Summer 2025, I bring you some bittersweet updates from camp.

Sunday may have been one of the busiest and most memorable days we’ve had all summer. We kicked things off with a heartwarming Grandparents Visiting Day, and it was truly special to meet so many grandmas, grandpas, nanas, papas, yayas, poppys and bubbys! It was a day full of love and joy as your girls proudly shared their favorite place with some of their favorite people. For those whose grandparents couldn’t make it, they were lovingly folded into others’ visits or enjoyed special time with friends and staff. The warmth and connection were felt everywhere.

As soon as the last hugs and goodbyes were shared, we dove headfirst into Romaca Relay. The entire camp split into two teams—green and white—for an afternoon of fast-paced, silly relay races. The event culminated in a dramatic rope burn competition, executed by Romrec. As Clubhousers, your girls led the lower camp in cheers, a full-circle moment for those who once looked up to Clubhouse leaders themselves. It was magical to see them step into those leadership roles with such confidence and pride.

From that moment forward, the camp was abuzz with one question: When will the Olympics break out? Every glance, every movement by Daniel, Gaz, and the Gator was scrutinized. The suspense was real, and the energy was electric. Then came Tuesday night.

It started during evening activity—staff began to mysteriously disappear. First, the international counselors, then the Americans. Suddenly, I was the only adult left with the girls. A call rang out over the loudspeaker from Jeff: “All campers to the basketball court!” The girls barely waited for the sentence to finish before they were off and running.

We arrived to find counselors in all black silently surrounding the court. Moments later, four Romrec counselors appeared with burning torches. It wasn’t a fake-out—Olympics had officially broken out! Another prompt directed us to the Gymnastics Pavilion, where more staff stood waiting. In a dramatic flourish, the lights went out, the Olympic flag dropped, and the music started. The crowd exploded. Tears, screams, and laughter filled the air as the 2025 Olympic countries, captains, lieutenants, and teams were revealed.

The games have been absolutely incredible. Our four Clubhouse lieutenants—Ellie S., Mila, Remy G., and Sophia—have shown exceptional leadership. Not only did they rock 8,000 necklaces, insane layers of sequin, faux fur and lame clothing, and don’t forget the outrageous hats, but they carried the true responsibility of leading and uplifting their entire teams.

I’ve also been deeply impressed by the support and spirit shown by all Clubhousers. They cheered loudly, led passionately, and embraced the moment with full hearts. Being a Senior B during Olympics is one of the most exciting parts of the summer—and with that privilege comes responsibility. From writing some of the best “Pep” songs we’ve heard (we know that this group is full of exceptional writers), to teaching chants, collaborating on skits, and guiding younger campers with pride and kindness, these girls have risen to the occasion and then some.

As we wrap up the Olympics, prepare for Secret Show, and soak in these last special moments, I know we’ll be holding hands a little tighter, hugging a little longer, and tearing up from the beautiful ache that comes with meaningful goodbyes.

It’s hard to believe this is my final blog post of the summer. What’s even harder to believe is that the confident, capable young women I see today are the same girls who walked into the bunk just six weeks ago. As sad as I am to say goodbye next Friday, my heart is full knowing that your daughters are leaving with newfound confidence, lasting friendships, and memories they’ll cherish forever.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for letting me work with your daughters this summer. I hope their Clubhouse experience was everything they dreamed of—and more.

Signing off (…next Friday)
