Annex Week 6

Well, folks, Week 6 at camp has been an absolute rollercoaster of fun, fire, and fierce competition. If you listen hard enough, you can hear the wild cheering echoing from the woods.

We kicked off the week with the much anticipated Grandparent’s Visiting Day. Being able to see the gleeful faces of campers spotting their grandparents from across the pebble path was pure magic. The girls spent the day with their favorite people, making memories, sharing stories, and of course, filling in their grandparents on all of the fun they have been having this summer.

The fun didn’t stop there however. Right after the grandparent festivities, we dove headfirst into Romaca Relay! The camp was split into two teams: Green and White, battling it out in a relay throughout all of Romaca. Let me tell you, our Annex girls were absolutely on fire (no pun intended)! They raced in and out of the woods, collecting sticks for Romrec’s massive fire, and did so with huge smiles on their faces. Myself and the counselors got to splash them with water, making sure they were nice and cool for their run.

The White team emerged victorious, but honestly, it wasn’t about winning. It was about the spirit of the game. We jumped into the lake, hands held and hearts full. After the race, we all came together as one big family around the campfire to celebrate our hard work. There’s no team like Camp Romaca!

On Monday we welcomed our very own Minions! Deb Carnival was nothing short of spectacular, with a Despicable Me theme that had the whole camp laughing. We got our faces painted, went through the trainee haunted house and enjoyed some carnival treats. The girls embraced their inner Minions, sporting yellow, blue, and a whole lot of bananas (hence the paint). Between the silly games, hilarious costumes, marriages and a killer playlist, the day could not have gone better.

Tuesday rolled around, and even though it started off as a normal day, that night we broke out Olympics! There, we found out who would be helping the Captains lead the camp this year. Shoutout to Marley, Tessa, Sophie, and Honor who took charge of leading their teams and did it with grace and compassion. We are SO proud of these four leaders this year, as they’ve shown nothing but grit, teamwork, and a serious amount of enthusiasm. Gold medal-worthy, if you ask me!

As for the campers, well, they were in it to win it. The energy was electric and the competition fierce. The rest of the week has been a whirlwind of activity. Track meet? Check. Swim meet? Check. Basketball, volleyball, tennis, and pickleball? Double check. The girls have been busy showing off their athletic skills and making some serious memories.

Each event has been more exciting than the last, with campers supporting each other like the true team players they are. And the competition? Intense. But in the end, it’s all about the fun, and we couldn’t be prouder of how each camper has participated with spirit and determination.

As we head into the final stretch of the week, we’re all on the edge of our seats, eagerly awaiting to see which country comes out on top. Who’s winning the ultimate bragging rights? Well, that’s still to be decided, but I’ll tell you one thing: The campers have been putting in the work!

Don’t forget, we’ve got something even more exciting ahead: Banquet! It’s going to be the grand finale of the summer, and trust me, it’s going to be one for the books. We’ve all been working hard to make sure it’s a night to remember, so stay tuned for some epic stories!

We are holding our final week close, as we wish we could stop time and our summer never end. We love our home in the pines.

With lots of love,

The Annex Olympic Mom
