Romrec Week 1

Hello Romrec families !!

I am super excited to be back at my summer home with our girls. I was so sad to miss the much anticipated arrival day, but seeing all the photos and videos that were taken made me feel like I was right there with them.

I arrived at camp on Saturday evening, and ran to lagoon field, to experience the much anticipated reunion. The girls, as always, were full of high spirits and I joined them, singing and dancing to our favorite songs. Saturday night, the staff performed some songs and dances during Get to Know Your Counselor and it was a great way for the children to see this year’s staff.

Sunday was a whole camp activity and a fan favorite, Predator. Watching our girls as leaders and helping the younger kids made me so proud of them, and even more excited to watch them be leaders throughout the summer. The day finished with our evening activity of Get to Know Your Camper, where the girls performed a song for the whole camp, and of course, they were AMAZING.

The rest of the week consisted of day to day activities, themed meals, and lots of fun. I was so lucky to get to spend lots of time with the girls in their activities and just witness the energy that they bring everywhere they go. We had three girls head out to a tennis tournament during the week, and they all came back with a first place trophy. On Thursday, some of the girls attended a flag football tournament where they brought great sportsmanship, communication and even won a few games.

Friday was the fourth of July which is always a fun day for everyone involved. The day began with Romrec running to flag pole wearing their patriotic colors. We then continued the day with rap battles, paint your counselor and a trip to Berkshire Bobs. It was also Reese’s birthday! I am excited to see what next week will bring, which includes our overnight hike which the girls can’t wait for (NOT!). I know that we will have a great time together regardless, and they are more memories that the girls will hold.

Until next week, Caoimhe.
