Hello families of our wonderful Juniors,
It’s hard to believe how much magic can fit into just one week - but here we are. Your girls have been living their best lives, full of big adventures and sweet moments, as they continue to flourish and thrive.
Of course, one of the biggest highlights of the week was Visiting Day! The joy was next level as you all reunited with your girls. The hugs were long, the stories were sweet, and the love was palpable. We can’t thank you enough for being part of such a special day and hope you caught a glimpse of just how happy your girls are. I want to reassure you that although the goodbyes were tough, your girls have settled back into camp life and are proudly sharing stories of the day spent with you all. After you left, we enjoyed an all camp dance party where it poured rain as we sang at the top of our lungs and danced the afternoon away.
Afterwards we had a very special campfire by the waterfront where we dressed proudly in our green and white Romaca colors, rather than our usual vibrant red. It was magical to be surrounded by our friends for our same campfire fun, but with a completely new backdrop and feel. With the glow of the fire and the shimmer of the lake behind us, we reminisced on the moments we’ve shared together so far and looked forward to the memories we are yet to make. At each campfire we witness our girls’ energy and vibrancy grow as they gain more confidence and experience throughout camp. They now know all the words to every song (or do really well at making them up along the way) and the actions that coincide, and are constantly sharing them with all that will listen. Our bus rides are my favorite, where the songs literally never end - I’m sure the bus drivers feel the same way right?!
Speaking of bus rides, our long-awaited Trip Day to Liberty Ridge Farm was a hit! From riding spinning chairs and giant slides to giggling through the corn maze, the girls got a full dose of country charm. They loved picking fresh blueberries (some made it to their baskets while most made it into their mouths) and shopping for souvenirs. With all the different activities and rides to choose from, many were drawn to the treehouses and just wanted to let their imaginations run wild. I was privileged to be invited in for tea parties and supermarket shopping sprees. It’s those moments where I get to stand back and bask in the juniors’ imaginations, zest and innocence that I pinch myself at how truly lucky I am. Your girls inspire us all to live in the moment and make the most of every special memory with our friends - something I hope we all take back to our outside worlds. We wrapped up Trip Day with a stop at our second favorite place in Hinsdale - Topsy’s Ice Cream. Second to Romaca of course! The girls loved every moment and were certainly happy with a late wake up the next morning.
Another special moment just for our division was our juniors only night swim. With the sun setting over the lake, the girls swam, splashed, and floated together - laughing and soaking up the summer night. It was an exciting evening to have the entire waterfront to ourselves and it left everyone feeling a little extra close.
During another of our evening activities, the girls created kindness posters for each camper in the division. Every girl has now proudly hung hers above her bed, a personalized poster signed by all her friends, filled with kind words and sweet notes. Watching the juniors’ read their posters with huge smiles was a reminder of just how supportive and thoughtful our girls are. Cue the happy tears from the staff!
For the past several weeks we have been fortunate to watch on as our camp friends in older divisions have performed their shows for the year. Some included trips to Greylock, and all included inspiration and awe from the juniors for their upcoming show. This year the girls will be joining with the inters to perform their version of Peter Pan, and this week marked the beginning of play auditions. The girls were brave, enthusiastic, and full of personality as they stepped onto the stage for the first time. Whether they’re dreaming of the spotlight or cheering from behind the curtain, they will all have the chance to shine. We can’t wait to see it all come together and share with the adoring crowd! How lucky are our Grandparents to be given a special viewing on Grandparents Visiting Day?!
Friendships are blooming, the giggles are nonstop, and the memories being made are the sweetest ever! As always, thank you for sharing your girls with us. We look forward to another amazing week together and will savor every moment!
Warmest,
Amber xo
