Juniors Week 2

Hi Juniors Families,

This week has simply flown by, and my heart is overflowing with all the incredible Romacan moments we’ve shared! It’s truly amazing to see how quickly your daughters have embraced camp life, filling every single day with their unique light and laughter. We are all so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by their zest and imagination.

Much to everyone’s delight, this week brought our famous Romaca Lip Sync Battle! And oh my goodness, the energy was off the charts. Our Juniors absolutely owned the stage and the whole experience saw them being silly, showing off their talents, and just having the best time laughing with their friends. They truly were stars, and I was just bursting with pride to see them shine and support each other.

After all that excitement, we gathered for our second campfire of the season, which is always such a special way to end our week. It warms my heart so much to see how eagerly the girls have thrown themselves into learning our campfire songs, dressing up in their divisional colors, and reveling in that unique magic only a Romaca campfire can bring. Picture week one - learning our divisional song, a little quiet, perhaps shy when it came our turn… to week two - our girls knowing all the words, singing, jumping around, clapping along so the whole camp could hear “the juniors make the world go round”. Words I will live by forever and ever!

Another special kind of magic began this week also - our Juniors experienced their very first ‘sneak outs’! Since the beginning of camp, whispers of these secret adventures have floated through the bunks, and now, they’re creating their own secret memories. Our Inters division lovingly orchestrated ‘sneaking in’ after lights out to whisk our Juniors away for giggles and, of course, some treats. It was heartwarming to see the Inter girls sharing the joy of a cherished tradition, so proud to now be able to share that special experience with their Junior friends.

The girls’ stuffies are still a big part of our days. From sleepovers and Mom Clubs beginning last week, to Stuffie Hotels under beds this week (a great trick to keeping under beds tidy I’ve learned - woohoo). I have started adding stuffies to roll call this week. The little extra time taken is so worth all the smiles and giggles as I read “Toast” right after a Junior’s name.

A huge round of applause for our girls who got involved in the swim meet this week! We have some very proud campers on our hands who couldn’t wait to share their achievements and hang their ribbons above their beds. We are constantly proud of all of the Juniors for their willingness to try new things, and the beautiful way they celebrate each other’s wins - “she’s got spirit til the end, that’s because she’s my best friend”.

Our 4th of July celebrations - WOW! The entire camp felt alive, with a vibrant sea of red, white, and blue as our Juniors proudly embraced the spirit of the day. The undisputed highlight was our beloved ‘Paint Your Counselors’ event. Picture counselors standing ready, armed campers with bowls of brightly colored paint, followed by pure, joyful chaos! The sound of their giggles across camp was unforgettable, as they transformed their counselors into hilarious, multi colored masterpieces. We kept the party going with a special cookout and some amazing 4th of July themed Rap Battles, before a trip to ‘Berkshire Bob’s’ for the most incredible fireworks display I’ve ever seen! The Juniors’ thought my excitement over riding to Berkshire Bob’s in a ’yellow school bus’ was hilarious. One of my favorite parts of this experience is that what may be ‘normal’ and everyday for some of us, can be so different and exciting for others. It’s special learning so much from your girls and also letting them feel our genuine enthusiasm for every single moment. And yes, while it sometimes means being gently teased for saying “rubbish” instead of “trash” or “bin” instead of “garbage can”, these quirks and differences only add to the richness of the shared experiences we’re building together.

Thank you a million times over for allowing us to share these experiences with your girls. My heart is truly full from this incredible time with your girls as their group head, and I eagerly await all the wonderful moments week three has in store for us!

Warmest,

Amber xo
