Inters Week 4

Hi Inters families!

This has been a jam packed week here at Romaca!! Between Visiting Day and our trip to Great Barrington, the Inters girls have been busy as can be.

This Sunday, we had a campfire at the Waterfront to switch things up after Visiting Day. The girls were in awe at this change of scenery, and it was gorgeous to watch the sun set over the lake as we finished out our day. Additionally, campfire was “green and white” themed, so it was great to see the girls channel their Romaca (vs. Inters) spirit. On Monday night, we traded our spirit and spunk for some sentimentality, where we created an Inters “time capsule” for Evening Activity. Each of the girls filled out the attached worksheet and took a cute solo shot on a Polaroid camera to open during their Romrec summer. I have them stowed away in the Lodge already; the next 6 years will fly by and they’ll be reading them before we know it! I’m so jealous of them; I have no traces of my inner thoughts and emotions from Inter summer. They’re so lucky that they’ll forever have this moment of their childhood memorialized in pen.

On Wednesday, we headed off to Great Barrington for Trip Day! We started the day off at Catamount, where the girls completed a ropes course almost 4x the size of ours at camp. They were so brave to try something new and excited to push themselves out of their comfort zones, which was awesome to see. Afterwards, we walked around Main Street in GB for about an hour or so. The girls loved the candy store, toy store, and coffee shop the best! They all wanted to “drink chai lattés like Schmaier does” - so cute. Finally, we ended the day at Topsy’s ice scream shop, a Romacan delicacy. The girls loved getting their annual fix of Blue Goo, as well as buying Topsys t-shirts to showcase their loyalty to Hinsdale’s finest.

This upcoming week, we have Birthday Night (a dinner party put on by the Senior A’s division to celebrate everyone’s birthday at camp, even if it doesn’t occur during the summer), Counselor Hunt (an evening activity spent searching for “hidden” counselors throughout camp with their camp sisters in order to win points for their team), and Deb Carnival (an all-camp carnival put on by the Debs division each year with a secret theme).

With all the upcoming special events, it’s truly starting to hit the girls (myself included!!) that camp is slowly coming to an end. I can only hope our Inters spend these next 3 weeks cherishing the moments they have left - they’re going by way too fast!!

XOXO,

Schmaier
