Hi Clubhouse Families!
It was such a joy to meet you all this past Sunday. Seeing the girls light up as they shared their summer with you was truly special. We kicked off the week with a home soccer tournament! With half of Clubhouse playing, the rest of us were out cheering them on. Sophia and Lily H. scored goals, Remy won the game with a clutch penalty kick, and Lily M. was a star in goal, wearing Gaz’s work gloves, no less!
Now for the moment you’ve been waiting for…our Newport trip recap!
Day 1: What was supposed to be a smooth three-hour drive turned into an unexpected adventure. Just 25 minutes in, the girls smelled burning rubber, and we had to pull over at Littleville Elementary. Thankfully, the kind staff there let us use their bathrooms and water station while we waited. The girls passed the time enjoying leftover Visiting Day treats (thank you, parents!) and practicing songs for their secret show with Romrec and Annex. Ninety minutes later, we were back on the road! We arrived at the hotel, enjoyed a swim, and then had dinner by the water.
Day 2: After an epic night’s sleep in our air-conditioned rooms (luxury!), we grabbed Dunkin’ and headed to the wharf. Our boat tour on The Rum Runner II gave us stunning views of the Newport coastline and a splash or two from the Atlantic! The girls laughed, took photos, and got soaked. Next up, shopping! Did someone say Brandy? From Ms. Melville to the Jellycat craze, the girls didn’t leave a single dollar unspent. They even all picked out Newport half-zip sweatshirts together to wear to dinner. Don’t forget a special gift for their Port Pal—a fun tradition of secret santa, Romaca edition.
Later, we toured The Breakers mansion, with photo ops galore on the great lawn overlooking the ocean. That evening, we celebrated Nicole’s birthday with dinner, the biggest sundae we’ve ever seen, and (surprise!) more shopping!
Day 3: We wrapped up with a beautiful coastal “cliff walk” and a quick beach hang before heading back to camp, bags bursting at the seams and many new memories for our box.
This trip was about more than sightseeing and shopping, it gave the girls a chance to bond in a new way. With different roommates, walking groups, and tablemates, they made fresh connections and lasting memories.
Now we’re back at camp with full hearts, empty wallets, and ready for a fun week in our favorite summer home.
With love,
Rachel
