Romrec Week 4

Hello Hello my lovely families

Cant believe that another week is DONE!!! First of all thank you all so very much for joining us for an AMAZING visiting day 2023. What a day it turned out to be. I truthfully had everything crossed that visiting day would go ahead due to the terrible weather BUT in true romacan style the day was better than we could ever expected despite the weather. It was such a beautiful day filled with love and laughter and I got teary when I thought that was our 6th one together. Honestly, I can’t believe it!!!!

The softball game was super fun, especially seeing all the proud dads supporting their angel girls. Later that night we had our weekly campfire, one of my personal favourites. This campfire was a special one as the Romrec girls were introducing their camofire song to the rest of the camp. This was a very hard decision which I know the girls thought about for months. The girls decided on the song ‘Smile’. The words to this song is perfect for campfire. The girls were so proud when singing this to the whole camp during the campfire. Monday was a lovely sunny day which we welcomed very much. We kicked the day off with normal activities which the girls really enjoy. Later that night the girls had their braids in and plaid shirts on, we even had some boots!! The girls were dancing the night away with a camp favorite Cliff Brodeur. The girls were super cute in their cowgirl outfits ready for the hoe down.

Tuesday was a wet start to the day, as the girls completed “Shack and Back” which they loved…… The girls were all so happy singing their way to the other side of the lake. I brought across some pens where everyone signed a big rock as a symbol of their journey together. They were extremely happy. The girls had a well deserved refreshment after their swim. Tuesday night the girls enjoyed an evening activity that was created by their OOBS who they love. The guys planned a scavenger hunt around camp asking questions which would take them all around camp. For example one of the questions was where did the campers get their meds from before they had the wellness centre?? That would lead them to the pill box in the middle of camp. Once the girls had completed all the questions it led them to nature where the boys had prepared a lovely campfire for the girls to make smores. The counselors made a lovely activity where they were given paper and pens and had been given the name of another girl and they had to write a memory or something sweet about this girl. We then got the counselors to read out the letters. It was a very touching activity for the girls to hear the lovely things that others have to say about them.

Wednesday at camp was a very chilled and relaxed day for us. It was trip day for the rest of camp. Romrec stays behind and enjoys having the whole camp to themselves (which is very strange as it’s very quiet) the girls enjoyed a sleep in until 11am as they were exhausted. We all enjoyed a morning at the waterfront as it was a hot sunny day and the girls LOVE LOVE LOVE the sunshine working on their tans. We ordered lunch from HD Pizza and it was lovely enjoying lunch sitting together under the yoga pavilion. After lunch the girls enjoyed more than they should pranking the OOBS while they were off camp for the day. I’m sure they will tell you all but lets just say the OOBS were nearly sleeping with some furry friends hahah. The girls enjoyed the prank A LOT.

Later that night for Evening activity the girls were in the rec hall starting to measure the paper out for secret show. It was so exciting for the girls seeing it come to life and what their special night is visually going to look like.

Thursday was a lovely sunny day at camp which we always love. We had some of our girls competing in the sailing regatta at Watitoh, and they had the BEST time. They all made it safe over the line which we love to hear of course. The girls are such team players helping each other out when they can. Thursday night the girls all really enjoyed dressing up for tennis doubles. We had some bikinis, lots of sequins and even a disney princess on the court. Anything with a dress up theme the girls love.

Tonight will be a wet but fun evening activity with a night swim, one of the girls personal favourites. Next time we talk I will let you all know how it went.

I hope you all have a fun filled week like we ALWAYS do here at camp Lots of love Bethany xx
