Romrec Week 2

Hello again my lovely romrec families

Where has the time gone…… Only feels like yesterday I was writing last week’s blog. It’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun. As you all know the girls had their Romrec hike. When I say I was SUPER proud I mean it. The girls were all a little nervous about the hike but they have NOT stopped talking about it. They are all super proud of themselves and had the best time. I can’t wait for you to see the pictures. The girls all enjoyed a very well deserved lazy day after the hike. On Sunday we had a LOT of liquid sunshine so we had a late wakeup which we all very much enjoyed. Sunday’s all camp activity was one of my personal favourites and everyone else’s, Lip sync battle. The imagination of these girls blows my mind. The sheer talent of everyone at Romaca is CRAZY esp the romrec girls but I’m biased towards my girls. The songs, outfits, sas and everything else. Unfortunately the Romrec girls did not win this summer but they performed their show stopper from last summer and remembered every single move.

Monday unfortunately was another rainy day at camp. We have had a very wet start to the summer, but that doesn’t dampen the romacan spirits. We carried on with a rainy day schedule and enjoyed a calm evening activity down at the waterfront under the yoga pavilion. We played one of the division’s favorite games, “the string game’ , where we all sit in a circle and we ask 3 questions. What are you most anxious about this summer? What are you most excited about this summer? What do you want to get out of this summer? This activity I alway feel is such a good ice breaker for the girls to express how they are feeling and open up to the group. You get a ball of string you wrap it around your ankle or your wrist and once you have answered you throw the ball off string to the next person and they do the same.Once everyone has answered I go around and cut the string so everyone is left with a matching friendship bracelet.

July 4th is my favorite day at camp, and we had a late wakeup so that gave Romrec extra time to get themselves decked out. I’m sure you saw on our instagram page the red white and blue was in full swing at camp. I have NEVER seen so many beads, stripes and stars in my life. I LOVED it all. We all enjoyed a singalong breakfast before heading back to the bunks to prepare for our 4th of july traditional rap battle. Romrec worked so hard working together to come up with an amazing rap. Another year of painting your counselor which always turns into paint each other craziness. So many photos, laughs and memories made on this day as well as a red white and blue sports bra haha for memories. We ended the night with a very exciting trip to Tanglewood to see James Taylor which was such a lovely experience. Tanglewood always gives me magical vibes. We had such a lovely night. The girls were exhausted as I’m sure you can imagine.

Yesterday we welcomed LOTS of sunshine and warm weather and it was fabulous. The romrec girls competed in the swimming gala and all did AMAZING….. Last night we all enjoyed an all camp activity which was a counselor swap where the girls get romaca money where they bid for different activities on camp which is provided for by a chosen counselor.

As you are probably aware we are heading out on our Cape Cod trip this Sunday. All the girls and myself are very much looking forward to getting away and making more memories together. Here is to another fun filled week.

Love Bethany
