Romrec Week 1

Dear Romrec families,

Where do I start!!!!! This first week of camp has been everything I’ve ever dreamed of and MORE. The girls are electric, the energy and pep the girls are leading romaca with is second to none. This week has been a week where the girls, myself and all the counselors have bounded immensely.
This first week has been a whirlwind of emotions; it feels like we have never left, let alone been away for 10 whole months. The first night of camp was Campfire where Romrec wore their swag chanting until the inner circle was formed and they could not have been more proud to sit together holding hands singing the traditional songs that unite Romaca together. It honestly brought tears to my ears watching these girls come together and share so much love for each other. It was a proud mom moment for me :) Knowing these girls for 8 years from inters summer feels AMAZING.

Saturday night’s evening activity was Get to Know Your Counselor. All of the counselors performed by their department to introduce themselves to the rest of camp. They went ALL out making sure the campers and the rest of camp knew who they were and where they worked. They really wanted to impress the campers. Romrec was singing and dancing and led the camp with the first Friends & Pals and alma mater.

Sunday morning we started the day off with picture day. Which i’m sure you could imagine romrec turned into a beauty studio and they all looked STUNNING. They wore their barbie tops, standing side by side on the dock at the waterfront, the backdrop was stunning. Shortly after picture day we went from gorgeous girls in barbie tops to sassy camo girls ready to lead the rest off camp in Predator. The romrec girls were divided into teams for predator e.g. Hawks, Spiders, Shrew, they were each given a color where they were in charge of that team which included juniors, inters, debs, subs and so on. They have to make it around the whole camp collecting all the color strings without getting eaten. The girls were amazing, looking after the younger campers in their group. Once predator had ended all the campers were exhausted from running WILD all around camp!! Thankfully the weather held up until the end where we welcomed a little rain (light mist) to cool everyone off.

Get to Know Your Camper was Sunday nights evening activity BUSY BUSY SUNDAY!! But camp wouldn’t be camp without a jam packed schedule. The campers stole the counselor’s thunder when it came to their get to know skit/rap/song. Romrec sang an amazing song which ended in them soaking the entire camp with water guns. It’s safe to say they saved the best for last.

All of the girls are having the most AMAZING time being back in 01235, their summer home. The rest of the camp is obsessed with romrec and want to be their friends. The little campers are in and out of romrec all day wanting to sit on their beds, and wanting their attention, its super cute. I am so proud to watch the girls become these amazing role models for the younger divisions.

I am beyond blessed to be spending ANOTHER (6th) summer with your girls. They are the reason I return to camp year after year to see them grow into truly amazing young ladies.

Warm regards

Love,

Bethany
