Debs Week 1

Hello Deb Families!

I cannot believe that our first week here at camp is coming to an end. Even though it has been raining on and off, we have not let the weather stop our fun here at Romaca. Time really does fly by when you are having fun. Friday night when the girls got here we began our summer with our first campfire! All of the girls came dressed in yellow from head to toe and we made sure to sing as loud as possible. “Debs, Debs, that’s our name!” We started off our first full day at camp with a bang, doing Get to Know Your Counselor on Saturday night and Get to Know Your Camper on Sunday night. The campers got to see what department all the counselors work in and we as counselors got an insight on how each bunk is. The girls were able to sing, dance, perform a skit, really anything to show off their individuality as a bunk. Those two nights were full of laughter and some wacky skits.

On Sunday morning we had picture day where each of our beautiful campers got to show off their lovely smiles. They took pictures by bunk and individually which were adorable. I am very excited to see how the yearbook comes out this year! Looking forward a couple of days, we had Wacky Hat Wednesday for lunch and our first Brother Sister dinner on Wednesday night with Greylock and it was a success! I love that our campers can still see their siblings when they come to camp.

This week we traveled as a division to get to know each other and bond before we started our individual schedules for the summer. Yoga and Tennis were the fan favorites this week and I am truly impressed. The Debs are FULL of active and flexible girls. We finalized the schedules and Day 1 started on Thursday. The girls get 3 elective periods a day this year so they are extremely excited that they were able to have such a big say in what their day looks like at camp.

Though we still have another month, we have begun discussing Deb’s Carnival. I can’t say the theme yet (it’s a secret!) but as soon as the Debs make their grand announcement, I will be sure to let you know what they decided on. I am so happy to have such a creative and loving group of girls this summer. They have been full of energy and life, making the days fly by.

I am SO excited for what the summer has to bring for the Debs and I am looking forward to the laughs that I know we will all share. Check back in next week to see how the Debs have been making their way around camp.

With Much Love,

Ashley Director of Fun for the Debs
