Clubhouse 7 Week 5

Hi Clubhouse families,

I can’t believe how fast time is flying! It’s crazy to me that we’re already nearing the start of Week 6, but even crazier that in 2 week’s time, your daughters will be back with you for 10 months instead of here at camp with us for 2. But until then, when you get to see their day-to-day lives for yourself in real time, I’ll catch you up on what they’ve been up to.

On Thursday night, Clubhouse had another highly anticipated social, but this time, at Greylock. The girls had tons of fun primping and prepping for their big night out, and sang the whole van ride there and back. However, while after the last social ended, they couldn’t stop asking me when their next social would be, after this social, they couldn’t stop asking me when Olympics would be breaking out instead! And to that, I answered “who knows!!”.

This week, the Clubhouse girls have also been rehearsing for their play, Thumbelina. It opened on Friday night, and closed on Saturday night, with the most show stopping 2 performances I’ve ever seen! Although the girls loved being up onstage in front of the whole camp themselves (naturally), they loved cheering their friends on from the wings even more; it was truly amazing to see all their hard work pay off in an awesome production, and how supportive they were of one another’s accomplishments.

On Saturday afternoon, the girls participated in our annual Romaca (formerly known as Apache) Relay, where the camp is split up into 2 teams (green and white) for a relay race, which starts with the youngest division at the Lagoon Field and ends with a rope burning competition between the 2 Romrec teams at the Waterfront. As Clubhousers, the girls were tasked with leading the entire lower camp in chants and cheers for both their respective team’s Romrecers as they built their fires, as well as their respective team’s Annexers as they ran into the woods to collect sticks and twigs for the Romrecers to build their fires with. I was so proud watching the Clubhouse girls fulfill yet another Senior B responsibility with such grace; I can’t believe next summer they’ll be the Annex runners already!

Looking ahead into this week, we have Olympics on the horizon, where the camp is split up into 4 teams for a 3 day color war-style competition. As I’m sure you’ve heard, this year is the first year that the Clubhouse girls are eligible to be chosen as lieutenants to lead their team (alongside a fellow Annex lieutenant as well as a Romrec captain) through 3 days worth of events. However, while I’m so excited to watch 4 of your girls take on this incredible leadership opportunity, I’m more excited to watch all of the Clubhousers experience Olympics on Senior B side, where they’ll be responsible for writing and teaching some of their teams’ songs, another long awaited Romacan privilege. Let the games begin!!
