Clubhouse 7 Week 4

Hi Clubhouse Families,

This has been a jam packed week here at Romaca!! Between Virtual Visiting Day and our trip to Newport, the Clubhouse girls have been busy as can be.

This Monday, we had a campfire at the Waterfront to switch things up after our weekly Sunday campfire got rained out. The girls were in awe at this change of scenery, and it was gorgeous to watch the sun set over the lake as we finished out our day. On Tuesday, the girls watched the (belated) Romrec-Advisory Visiting Day softball game (and cheered me on from the sidelines!!), ate our annual (belated) Visiting Day lunch spread, and played a game of Treasure Hunt, where each camper won a vintage-looking Romaca baseball cap at the end. For Evening Activity, we had our yearly Cliff Brodeur square dancing event, where the girls got dressed up in their best cowgirl garb and promenaded the night away!

From Wednesday-Friday, we stayed in Newport, RI for Trip Day. The Clubhousers went to the beach, watched Space Jam in theaters, went on a sailboat, shopped (and shopped, and shopped, and shopped), and took a tour of the Breakers mansions during our stay. On each bus ride to our next destination, the girls sang this year’s Secret Show song, which they just started learning this past week, as well. It was so sweet to see how excited they were to finally know a Secret Show song - a Senior B privilege at Romaca. They each got assigned a “(New)Port Pal” for the trip at random, who they bought a $10 gift for in Secret Santa fashion. Each of the girls presented their gift to their “pal” on the bus ride home, which was such a bittersweet end to a fabulous vacation.

This upcoming week, we have Birthday Night (a dinner party put on by the Senior A’s division to celebrate everyone’s birthday at camp, even if it doesn’t occur during the summer), Counselor Hunt (an evening activity spent searching for “hidden” counselors throughout camp with their camp sisters in order to win points for their team), and Deb Carnival (an all-camp carnival put on by the Debs division each year with a secret theme).

With all the upcoming special events, it’s truly starting to hit the girls (myself included!!) that camp is slowly coming to an end. I can only hope our Clubhousers spends these next 3 weeks cherishing the moments they have left - they’re going by way too fast!!
