Romrec, Week 6

Romrec, Week 6

Hi RR Families,

The summer never seems to slow down. Each day brings a new incredible experience for the Romrec girls. Deb Carnival this year was the best yet! The theme was Hollywood and the girls had so much serving the camp cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn. As tradition, we concluded the day with a “pie eating” contest. There was truly more throwing of the pies in each other’s faces then there was actual eating.

As we start to head into the final week of camp (I can’t believe it either), we did an activity with Romrec where they created a bucket list. They proudly posted it up in the bunk as a reminder of the amazing moments they still have left to create.

Last Sunday it was great to see some Grandparents on Grandparent Visiting Day. The girls enjoyed showing them around their summer home. After the Grandparents departed we headed into Apache Relay, a personal favorite of mine. It was so incredible to see the girls come together to build a fire and burn through the rope. They worked together so well and it truly is a moment they will never forget.

Romrec also was able to go on their hike! We spent a day at Mt. Greylock hiking the beautiful trails and having a picnic at the summit. Jeff and Kimberly joined us on our hike as well. The view was unreal!

Olympic season is in the air. It broke out just after the Gymnastics showcase on Tuesday night. The Core 4 carried torches around to different parts of camp, starting outside of Romrec and ending at the Lagoon Field. Then the camp was directed to look at the water where three boxes were lit on fire. One box had the Olympic rings, the next had the number 90 to represent Romaca’s 90th year, and the third had the Romaca logo. Then the music came over the loudspeaker and we knew in that moment that Olympics has begun. Watching Romrec lead the rest of the Senior B’s has been so heart warming. They have really grown into their roles. I can’t wait to see them shine in the upcoming events.

Our time as campers is quickly dwindling down and we are trying to make every moment left on camp as memorible as can. The girls have certainly loved leading the camp this summer and I am looking forward to seeing Secret Show come to life on Sunday evening.

Have a great week.
