Juniors, Week 6

Juniors, Week 6

Hi Junior Families!!

As we move into our last few weeks of camp, the Juniors are making sure to make every single moment count! The girls performed their show last weekend, Wicked, and it was a huge success!! Watching the girls on stage performing, dancing and singing solos and group songs, everyone on camp was so impressed and proud. The Juniors really enjoyed it and most certainly enjoyed the ice cream party that followed! On Sunday, it was Grandparents Visiting Day. The Juniors had so much fun showing their grandparents around the camp. They were excited to show off all their new skills and talents and they felt very accomplished. After the grandparents left, Apache Relay began! The whole camp was separated into two teams. The white team, Kaiwa and the green team, Shawnee. Then everyone competed in a huge relay race, starting from the Juniors and going all the way up to the traditional rope-burning by Romrec. The relay was intense and exciting and ended with fulfilled smiles on everyone’s faces! After Apache Relay, we had our second to last campfire, the perfect ending to a perfect day. On Tuesday we had a day filled with activities, and then that night we had our Romaca gymnastics showcase. All the campers got to perform their individual and group cheers, dances, and gymnastic routines in front of the whole camp! The Juniors got out there and performed their dance to “Hairspray.” They were amazing!! During the end of the showcase, right at 9pm, Olympics broke out! Everyone ran down to the lagoon field just in time to see three huge signs burst into flames on the lagoon water. One sign read “90” to represent Romaca’s 90th anniversary, another held the classic Romaca symbol with the two girls holding hands, and the third sign held the Olympic Rings! Once the Olympic music started playing, everyone took off back to the Gymnastics Pavilion for the crowning ceremony. The Juniors loved seeing their friends in the older divisions get crowned, it was an exciting night for all. Wednesday morning began the official start to the Olympic Games! Our countries this year are: Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, and Mexico. Each Junior was put onto a team and the games have begun!!

All in all, it’s been a long but fulfilling week here at Romaca. With so much going on, time as been flying by. All the campers are making the most of the rest of the summer, the Juniors especially. You only get one “first” summer at Romaca, and they’re eager to make it the best!!

Until next week,

Fretts :)
