Inters, Week 6

Inters, Week 6

Hi Everyone,

What a week it’s been!!

In the blink of an eye, summer is disappearing slowly before us. The Inters have made new sisters, wonderful memories, and faced fears they didn’t know they could overcome. I am so proud of all of the chances they have taken and all of the strides they have made. Their show, Wicked, was the cutest, sweetest thing I have ever seen. So many of the girls had a part and no matter the size, they made each part their own and stole the show with their acting and their solos. You would have been so proud! I know I was!

Grandparents Day was fabulous; and I’m not just talking about the grandparents themselves!. The girls had such a fun time showing them all around camp, and they really enjoyed spending time with them. Some grandfathers even went up the wall! It was a relaxing day to hang out and catch up on summer moments.

We also had Apache Relay in which the girls were separated into two teams, Kiawa (White) and Shawnee (Green). For those of you that don’t know, Apache Relay is all camp tag relay race which starts with the youngest division and ultimately leads to Romrec in a rope burning competition. It really got the girls into gear with Olympics just around the corner!

This week, the Juniors and Inters had an evening activity called Super Sloppy Night!! With tension high for the pending Olympic Breakout, (I cannot tell you how many cute little voices would ask me by the MINUTE-Adri, is it happening tonight? Adri, will it happen before dinner? Adri-will they wake us up in the middle of the night? They were so cute!) I couldn’t resist testing their energy a little more with a little Olympic Fake Out of our very own :) We had so much fun surprising them and hearing them screech with joy. We then ended it with an obstacle course while being sprayed with shaving cream, baby lotion, and baby shampoo ! All the girls were caught off guard and they definitely had their sweet revenge on us! We enjoyed a brief clean-off in Plunkett Lake and then raced for the showers.

Finally, the three most intense days of the summer were upon us: OLYMPICS! It broke with a race down to the lagoon field after some tiki torches led us to the start of Olympics….There was an amazing fire display incorporating our 90th summer, Romacan logo, and of-course the Olympic Rings in the lagoon. The OOBS were holding the Olympic flag and screams were heard throughout the Berkshires, for sure! The entire camp was split into four countries: Switzerland (White), Denmark (Red), Finland (Blue), and Mexico (Green). The girls all sat around the Gymnastics Pavilion as they nervously heard their captain and lieutenants names, as well as which team they were on. There is spirit wear from head to toe, and a HUGE amount of friendly competition going on. The sports have turned all my girls into mini athletes! I love how they cheer each other on even while being on opposing teams.

So far, Denmark is in the lead! Stay tuned….

XOXO,

Adri
