Romrec, Week 5

Romrec, Week 5

Hi RR Families,

I can say without a doubt that the girls put on such an amazing show this past weekend! Grease was a success and the girls had so much fun singing on stage. These girls are truly an animated bunch and brought many laughs to the audience. They still won’t stop singing it even though the play is over. We also did our traditional swim in Plunket Lake to the red “Shack and Back”. A little back story… Many moons ago, early 2000’s, (LOL!) Romrec asked Deb-Deb if they could swim to the red shack across Lake Plunkett and then swim back. It turned out to be a HUGE bonding success which is now presently a Romrec tradition each summer. We geared up in our life vests, with the swimming staff and counselors in tow, and swam across the lake. We each put our initials on a rock and left that by the shack. We had a great time celebrating Birthday Night with a GROOVY 70’s theme! The Sr. A’s really did an amazing job putting this event together, hard to believe that was us 4 years ago. After dinner, Romrec dressed their seasonal gear and led each birthday season in the traditional themed songs.

There has been some liquid sunshine the past few days but that hasn’t stopped the girls from making every moment at camp count. We had some bonding times with the other Senior B’s, participated in activities in the Gymnastics Pavilion and played different games. Romaca had its first annual “Garbage to Catwalk” fashion show. They girls used trash bags to create dresses and got to strut their stuff for the camp. These girls are so creative and had a blast getting “dressed up”.

As the end is starting to near, Olympics fever is in the air. They are anticipating the BREAKOUT! They’ve already started predicting how and when it will begin. Apache Relay is on Sunday afternoon after grandparents’ day and I am so excited for them to build a fire for the rope burning contest at the end of the relay. They have been on the sidelines for many years cheering on RR and now is their time!

Wishing you a great week and I will keep you in the loop with next week’s events. :)

Warmly,

Frankel
