Annex, Week 5

Annex, Week 5

Dear Annex Families,

And just like that, another week goes by!! It is so hard to believe that we are approaching the closing weeks of the summer! It has been such a pleasure getting to spend the summer with all of your wonderful girls and getting to know each of their individual personalities and talents. The Boston trip was a HUGE hit!! We had so many fun and fabulous activities packed into our three days and it was so great to see the girls taking it all in and just having a blast with their friends. On day one, we unloaded off the bus and on to Newbury Street for some retail therapy. The girls all split up into their shopping groups, allowing them to strategically map out their plan of attack (being sure to hit Sephora and Brandy Melville, OF COURSE!). After some shopping and lunch, we went back to the hotel to relax and get ready for the evening. We went to Blaze pizza for dinner, the girls were able to design their own pizza and debated over the all important question; BBQ or pesto?! After our dinner, we went to the theatre district to watch Shear Madness. The show was an interactive murder mystery and the girls got so involved! The cast was really funny and they were picking people out from the crowd and asking them questions about the “case”, so of course we had 23 hands waving ferociously in the air, dying to share their thoughts on the suspects before them. The following day we went on a Duck Tour around the city and down Charles River. The tour guide was very funny and had the girls all giggling throughout while he taught them all about Boston and its history. The girls had a great time and really enjoyed the tour; quacking along the entire time. (I can only apologise for the quacking duck bills they all invested in, I am sure they will show you when they arrive home). After the tour, we made our way to Quincy Market for lunch and after lunch the girls had some time to buy their Boston shirts, trinkets for their Camp Sisters or Siblings and check out the Market. On the final day in Boston, we had the option of either a whale watching tour or the aquarium. Both groups had a blast and took lots of photos to show you when they return home!

This week we had Birthday Night. The theme this year was The 70’s. It was so fantastic and everyone had a great time singing our seasonal songs and enjoying the yummy food. The camp also took part in an all camp game of Garbage to Catwalk. This is where the girls are split up into groups and given garbage bags. They are then given 30 minutes to create a fashion line to be modelled in the Rec Hall. Annex was incredible!! The girls were so confident strutting their stuff down the runway and really did steal the show, winning the award for “Best Style”. The event was brilliant and everyone loved getting involved and having fun being silly together. After all, where else would you get the opportunity to drape yourself in trash liners and embrace your inner Tyra Banks?!

The girls have been busy this week working on Banquet and it is starting to come together wonderfully! It has been so lovely getting to spend another crazy, silly and action-packed week with your amazing young ladies and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer holds for them all!

Have a great week,

Courtney
