Debs, Week One
Dear Deb Families,
I am so thrilled to be paired with the Deb girls! I have loved so much to return to my summer home. Romaca was such a huge part of my childhood so I am thrilled to be back here as a Group Head and look after your girls. It’s hard to believe that a week has already gone by. The girls have all settled into their summer home and are bonding with each other and their counselors. We have had a week packed with evening activities such as Get to Know Your Counselor (skits performed by the staff) & Get to Know Your Camper (skits performed by each bunk of campers) which was an absolute blast. Over the next few evenings we played a variety of silly & energetic games to get know each other better. Sunday morning was picture day where the girls decked themselves out in Romaca clothing. We have a beautiful and photogenic group of girls! It was followed by a delicious brunch! Later Sunday afternoon the entire camp played Predator which is where the camp is divided into different types of animals on the food chain. The girls got all dressed in camouflage and dark clothing so they would blend in with their surroundings. They then played a form of tag/hide and seek which is a favorite high energy game. We ended up playing part of the game in the rain which the girls thought was really fun! Sunday night Romrec (our oldest division) spread themselves out all over camp and each spent time with a few of the younger bunks- LOVED hanging out with the Romrec girls. We also had Twin Night on Monday night where the girls had to dress up with their older camp sisters and go on stage in front of the whole camp. They had time at Creative Arts to make parts of their costumes and they were amazingly creative!! We have an fantastic bunch of fun and creative girls!! We also played Statues, another beloved game for evening activity, on the lagoon field, where the girls were broken up into random groups and they had to act out scenes from camp (ie - opening day, Olympic breakout). They, as I’m sure you can imagine, love to throw on the wackiest costumes and face paint to immediately act out each scene.
