Annex

Annex, Week One

Dear Annex Families,

I am so delighted to be spending the summer looking after your girls! This week we have all spent a lot of time getting to know one another and they are really an amazing group of young ladies. Once the girls were all settled in we had an all camp campfire and Wish Night where everyone was handed a candle so that they could make their own special and unique wish for the summer ahead. On Sunday morning we had Picture Day on camp, which allowed us the pleasure of watching your beautiful and wonderfully photogenic girls all stand together smiling in their green and white. Later on that afternoon, the girls ditched the green and white for camouflage and got their war paint on for Predator, where the entire camp is separated into teams based on animals in the food chain and engage in a huge game of tag. It was brilliant to see the girls getting so involved and enjoying the event so much, even in spite of some late rain. That evening, after yet another costume change, the girls all performed their Get to Know your Camper skits and I have to tell you all, in my opinion, Annex was definitely the best performance of all. Although I may be a little biased. The girls all came together so brilliantly to work on their song together and it was great to see them all decked out in purple and taking the stage with all of their summer sisters. Monday was our traditional Twin Night. This is where the girls join their camp sisters to create a duo or group costume and theme which was then judged based on a number of categories; Cutest, Funniest, Most creative, Most original, Best use of materials, Most identical and Best overall theme. The girls were so adorable and all looked after their younger camp sisters with such maturity and care. It was so lovely to see them all taking the younger girls under their wing and encouraging them to share the whacky, creative and confident nature that our wonderful Annex girls embrace so beautifully! Today the girls have their first day of their senior choice schedules and all seem very excited to get back into the activities they love and also to try some new activities that they may not have taken part in before in previous summers. Tuesday night we had Senior B Statues where all of the girls from Clubhouse, Annex and Romrec come together for a fun game of improvisation and acting out scenes. We will also be assigning each Senior B girl a “secret summer sister” this evening. This is where each girl will be given the name of another Senior B camper who they must look out for over the course of the summer, leaving them nice notes on their bed, helping them out around camp etc, without the recipient realising that they are the good-doer’s secret sister. I am so excited to see the bonds that the girls will develop and how this will encourage them all to look out for each other. The girls are all having an amazing time and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer holds for them all, both as a division and for each of them as amazing and unique young ladies. Thank you all for allowing us to share this time with your girls!

Warm Regards, Courtney
