Romrec Week 1
Romrec started off Summer 2016 with a BANG! Their energy and excitement was palpable as they raced off the buses to grab each other-a moment most of them had waited years and years to do as Romrec! Their Build-A-Bear T-shirts were adorable and introduced Romaca to their positivity and kindness as a group of sisters. They chanted their way into the campfire with their arms linked and were so proud as they led their first campfire as Romrec in the center circle. From that moment, we knew Summer 2016 was off to a great start. Their Get To Know Your Camper skit was original and brilliant-a mash-up of songs and raps that they performed a cappella and in unison. They were overwhelmingly excited to formally introduce themselves to Romaca. Predator was a huge hit, as always, as the girls led their “animal” teams through a giant game of hide and go seek throughout camp. They have also been setting a wonderful tone of leadership and sisterhood as big camp sisters-having spent a great deal of time with their younger camp sisters at rec swim and preparing for Twin Night. They even took the Juniors on a “Sneak-in” and invited them into their palace of RR. The Juniors were overwhelmed and overjoyed, of course. Our traditional Taco Tuesday was adorable-as RR paraded into the dining hall decked out in their Mexican Best. We had our first social with Greylock so they enjoyed reuniting with their boys for the first time in 10 months. Yesterday was a big day-another RR tradition that they got to experience and had dreamt of doing since they were Juniors-the big swim to “Shack N Back”. They sang the whole way through! The Romrec girls just introduced the Lollipop Survivor game to the entire camp; a game that helps the girls to get to know one another, but through tag and elimination. They even revised this traditional game just to make it more fun. Go Romrec!
