Juniors, Week 6

Hi there Junior families!!

What a week it has been! This summer has just been flying by. I left things off last week by letting you all know that Deb Carnival was about to begin. The Deb carnival theme was ‘Disney’ and it was so much fun walking around and playing in all the Disney themes activities that the Debs division created for us all! There was even a huge slip n’ slide that the Juniors were hesitant about; but after seeing their OOB Jack and myself go for it, they followed suit and had a blast getting soaked and sliding around! I got the opportunity to go with a few of the Juniors into the haunted house that was set up as well, and coming out at the end laughing from how nervous we were was too much fun. The Junior and Inter division also performed their play that evening, and it was AMAZING. Having seen the play three times, once on Friday, then again Saturday and Sunday, I still laughed and cried every single time. Each child on the stage stood out in their own unique ways and they absolutely took over the Rec Hall with their breath taking performances. The girls all have such unbelievable talent! Grandparents visiting day was also on Sunday and I know the Junior campers all thoroughly enjoyed getting to see their grandmothers and grandfathers. The girls really enjoyed being able to show off all the new skills and talents they have acquired over the summer here at Romaca! During Monday evening activity this week the Juniors joined with the Subs and Inters Division for a huge “Super Sloppy” night where it was campers vs counselors in a giant shaving cream, foam war! It was a total hit and the night ended with everyone jumping into the lake to clean off. For Tuesday night evening activity all the girls got the opportunity to tie dye shirts; they all came out so colorful and bright! Also at the start of the week, tension and spirits were high as everyone on camp waited for the breakout of the Romaca Olympic Games! All throughout the beginning of the week, campers and counselors were anxious in anticipation of when, where, and how the breakout would take place. Finally, on Tuesday evening during evening activity, it happened! Two cop cars raced into camp, sirens blaring, chasing after what appeared to be an intruder on camp!! All the campers raced after the cop cars to the lagoon field, where one of the cops stepped out and cornered the intruder. Under a black hood was Joe, one of the Romaca OOBS……he slowly brought out what was the Olympic flags!! All the campers cheered and then rushed over to the gymnastics pavilion where the countries were announced and the captains and lieutenants were crowned. Our countries for the 2017 Romaca Olympic Games are: the White Team (India), the Green Team (Ireland), the Blue Team (Scotland), and the Red Team (Australia). The games have begun here at camp and the girls have all enjoyed walking around in their team colors; creating cheers and competing against one another in various activities. The end of camp is approaching quickly and everyone is making the very most of the time we all have left together. If only time could slow down!

Till next week,
