Forms & Mailings

  • Our staff generally hails from the United States, Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand and other countries throughout Europe.
  • We have approximately 140 staff members supervising 250 campers aged 7-15 years.
    Staff members must be present for the entire 7-week camper season, in addition to our mandatory 10-day staff orientation.
  • We have one, single session for campers.
  • Our campus is situated 1600 feet above sea level in Western Massachusetts. Weather can be very warm in the days (~85 degrees F) and cool at nights (~65 degrees F).
  • We are located in the town of Hinsdale, Mass, approximately 3 hours north of New York City, 2 hours west of Boston and 1 hour east of Albany, New York.
  • Assistance is provided in arranging transportation to Romaca. We provide pickups from nearby airports, train and bus stations.
  • 2nd – 6th grade bunks generally have 6-9 campers with 2-3 counselors.
  • 7th – 9th grade bunks generally have 28-34 campers with 8-10 counselors.
  • Our program is balanced between athletics, arts and outdoor adventure programs.
  • We swim daily in beautiful Plunkett Lake.
  • Younger campers have a pre-determined schedule with one elective period each day. Older campers have a completely elective program. The last period of each day is double length and serves as a skill enhancement period.
  • Our food is simply awesome. (period!) Vegetarian options are plentiful.
  • Campers and staff participate in special themed events, plays and weekly campfires. Musical instruments are encouraged.
  • Staff is actively supervised in teaching areas by department heads and in bunk areas by group heads. These heads are known as Advisory Staff.
  • Uniform shirts are provided at no cost. Generally, comfortable casual and athletic wear is most appropriate.
  • Salaries are competitive and are based upon experience and position.
  • Staff may draw on their salary in cash on a weekly basis.
  • Computers with internet access and satellite television are available in our staff lounge. Please do not bring personal laptops to camp.
  • Our fitness center is equipped with state of the art weights, Cybex machines and true treadmills.
  • Staff enjoys 5 days off during the course of the season. Each day off includes an overnight. Many counselors explore Boston, NYC or New England on days off.
  • 15 passenger camp vans are made available for staff member use after 9pm on most nights. Staff usually enjoy 3 or 4 nights off duty from 9pm – 1am.
