Debs, Week 6

Here is the update for the Debs:

The Deb Carnival was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! All of the girls’ hard work, dedication and enthusiasm paid off and the camp enjoyed an amazing day! The boys from Greylock came over to enjoy the festivities and they were thoroughly amazed with the DISNEY DEB CARNIVAL. The girls were so excited to be part of dressing up Jeff, Daniel, Lauren and Debra for the carnival. We dressed Jeff as “Mickey Mouse”, Daniel as “Goofy”, Lauren as “Tinker Bell” and Debra as “Snow White”. All of the girls and counselors dressed up as Minnie Mouse and the oobs dressed up as Mickey Mouse. So proud of the girls!!! We ended the evening with the girls running around with each other doing a meaningful scavenger hunt and opening up a special bracelet that was made for each of the girls from the counselors.

Saturday night the girls went to the Jinters’ production of “An American Tale”. They were adorably cute and so talented. Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day for the Grandparents’ visiting day and the girls loved seeing and having them here. In the afternoon, we had an all camp gymnastics event where some of the girls performed their individual routines and other performed routines they made up with friends. At the end, we had divisional handstand contest and then the winners from each division competed against each other. I was so proud that one of the Deb campers came in 1st place for holding her handstand for the longest amount of time against the entire camp! We ended the night with a colorful and high energy campfire. Monday we participated in an all camp Apache Relay. All divisions are divided into two teams and cheer on the Romrec division for the final moment of burning the rope. Once the rope burns, the Romrec division runs into the water and hugs, sings songs and bonds as one. It is overly emotional for the division and for all of us watching-knowing that for Romrec-the end of their summer is near.

This past week there was a lot of excitement in the air as the girls anticipated the breakout of Olympics. Every place they turned they were looking for clues as to when it would break out. There were a few fake outs that kept everyone on their toes until it finally broke out on Tuesday night in the middle of evening activity. The entire camp raced down to lagoon field where the Olympics break out took place. Once the teams were revealed, the girls ran to hear who the captains and lieutenants would be and which teams they were each on.

These past few days have been full of Olympic activities. The girls have competed in tennis, soccer, gymnastics, swimming, basketball, track, and so much more! They are also working together to learn songs, skits and cheers which will be performed Friday evening.

With Olympics coming to an end, it is hard to believe that we are heading into our last week of the summer. There is still so much excitement left with the traditional closing events that line up our last week of camp. I know that the girls, their counselors and I will take every chance we can to make this final week fun as we make our last memories together which will carry us through the upcoming year!.

Have a great week!!!
